A Birthday Brunch

Happy Thursday! So apparently this blog has turned a little more into towards the "party scene" - but that's what's going on around here! The spring is always such a fun time with both our birthdays and spring always seems to bring change in the air as well. This spring Chuck is studying endless (endless) hours for his big Step Exam on June 8th. The test is the most difficult and longest test he will take in his career and he's been preparing so long for it. It's almost a week away now and we are both ready to have spend some time together "post Step"!

On my end ... well, I landed my dream job. In case you couldn't tell - I love a good party. If you were to ask me what I wanted to do in the future I would simply say "throw parties." I never thought that professional this would be an option any time soon and definitely not in Lubbock, but the Lord always likes to laugh at our plans right? So now I am so excited to be the new event coordinator for Llano Estacado Winery right here in Lubbock, Texas! It is the largest and most awarded winery in Texas and with expansion to their facilities they are adding a GORGEOUS new tasting room and event center that I get to coordinate events for. I am SO excited to learn more about the winery, how wine is made, and to help throw the parties of the year!

So with that little family update - on to our birthday brunch! With Tara's birthday is on the 8th and mine on the 21st we've only once celebrated our birthdays together in college, so it was definitely time again! Our wonderful friend Diane let us borrow our beautiful courtyard for the event and we had such a lovely time nibbling on hot pink thumbprints and sipping out of custom monogrammed mason jars by The Blank Slate Design. If you ever need custom gifts or items you must check out the products offered by Courtney and Crystal, our friends and hardest working sister duo I know!

We have the best friends! Thank you to each of you that celebrated with us!

That's What I Like About Chuck

Well hello again! After a (13583 day hiatus) I figured it was time to share some happenings on here! Summer house projects are coming up fast and I'm so excited to get some more rooms finally finished out!

So Chuck's birthday was April 10th and when I asked him what he wanted to do to celebrate he mentioned going somewhere "chill to eat for dinner, any suggestions? Well Dairy Queen of course."

Obviously we weren't "just going to go for dinner" so I did some research and found out that you can have birthday parties at Dairy Queen, complete with the "child's" name  on the marquee, an ice cream cake, and even at some locations games and decor. So I call our local DQ and come to find out - they've never done birthdays. In fact they don't even sell blizzard cakes. How are children in Lubbock suppose to celebrate birthdays without their favorite frozen treat?? Non-comprehendible. So after many talks with the manager about how they "should really start doing parties" he agreed to let me use a portion of the restaurant, purchase vouchers for blizzards, and put the "child's" name on the marquee.

Never-have-I-ever received so many strange looks when I was decorating DQ tables, and explaining to the staff that this was actually for my 26-year-old medical student husband, not a 8 year old child like they assumed.

We had so much fun and afterwards went to a local driving range (hence the "balls" portion on the invite mom). Hope you enjoy Chuck's bday and that you convince your own local DQ manager to let you throw the party of the year!

Christmas in ... February?

This was suppose to be a December post. Then it was going to be a January "I still want it to be Christmas" post. Well now it's a February "oops I've been super busy" post.

We had such a good holiday this year. Chuck always has two weeks off and this year since I work for the school I had THE WHOLE WEEK OFF. It was like college again - no worrying about driving places just for a day to say hi and then drive back home. We actually got to sit on couches, laugh with family, eat good food and watch as many Christmas movies as we could fit in (and that we all agreed on). We got to see everyone which is very hard to do these days considering all my cousins are getting older and "doin' their own thing" these days. We got some good Christmas pics in of the house and with the family and if you missed our precious Christmas card it's below too! Enjoy and Merry (suuuuper late) Christmas!

(someone has a treat that he wants...)

I have some of the prettiest cousins!

Apparently I'm the only one that got the "funny pic" cue...

I hope that you and yours had the most wonderful holiday season!
